What is Engage Hamilton?
Engage Hamilton is a new and interactive online space for Hamiltonians to learn about select City initiatives, share their feedback and engage with their community. Engage Hamilton will be used to gather online feedback from and engage with residents about select City of Hamilton projects, policies and initiatives.
How do I sign up?
Sign up to the site by clicking on the ‘Sign In’ button and selecting ‘Register’
- Choose a username and a password
- Provide your email address, postal code and age group
- You will receive an email to confirm your email address
- Return to the main page and click the 'Sign In' button
Note: your comments will appear under your username and you can comment anonymously through a username of your choice.
Why is the City of Hamilton using an online public engagement platform?
Public engagement usually involves attending an open house, public meeting or providing a letter to Council. To enhance in-person engagement efforts, Engage Hamilton will help reach a broader audience for those who may not have the chance to participate in person, gather more resident feedback and offer the community a new way to provide input on projects.

How do I provide input?
Your input can be submitted using the online options that are relevant to each of the projects that are currently open for consultation. Note: In order to provide input, you must be signed in.
Why do I need to sign up to this site to provide input?
We ask you to sign up for the online platform because:
- It helps to minimize the chance of the consultation being manipulated by someone who leaves many comments in support of a position.
- It allows us to update residents if there are changes about the consultation or the project.
Do I have to live in Hamilton to register/engage?
No, we welcome any and all feedback on the exciting projects and initiatives taking place in the City of Hamilton.
Can I use this site anonymously?
Yes, you can use this website anonymously. Even when you register and post comments, your anonymity is protected because you are identified by your chosen screen name.
Bang the Table Pty Ltd hosts this website on behalf of the City of Hamilton and will not reveal the identities of account holders to the City of Hamilton. Any communication will always come to you through the platform, so your email address is not shared.
What happens to my input?
All input and ideas are compiled and sent to the relevant project manager to inform the recommendation and/or decision making.
Input provided online is used in collaboration with other in-person consultation activities like open houses, public meetings pop-up events, workshops and other similar activities.
Note: All comments you make through Engage Hamilton become public records.
Will my questions be monitored and answered in real time?
When the project is live, content and engagement will be monitored on a regular basis. Questions will be answered a timely manner – typically within three (3) business days.
How will I be contacted?
By registering for Engage Hamilton you are consenting to receiving emails about new engagement opportunities, and information and updates about consultations you have participated in or subscribed to.
Is my privacy protected?
Yes, the City will only use your email address to contact you with updates and to invite you to participate in consultations. Your email address will not be distributed to any third party or used for any other purpose. For more information, see the Privacy Policy.
How is the site moderated?
All discussion forums, guest books and questions and answers are moderated 24 hours a day 7 days a week for inappropriate language, comments that disrespect other participants and for comments that are off topic.
All moderation is carried out by Bang the Table for the City of Hamilton. Moderators do not edit or alter any comments and will only remove comments deemed to be significantly off topic, offensive or malicious, in which case they are removed from the site immediately and the person who posted the comment is advised by email. Please refer the Moderation Policy.
