Highland Gardens Park is an existing 3.2 hectare (8.7 acre) neighbourhood park located at 55 Hillcrest Avenue, Hamilton (Ward 1). This park includes a soccer pitch, baseball diamonds, and linkages to the Bruce Trail. Staircase improvements are proposed at Mountain Avenue and Hillcrest .
During the consultation period, the community will have the opportunity to provide feedback on one of 2 stair concept plans, choose a preferred shade option, pick railing materials and design, and provide input on the sitting area materials and design.
We are looking for public input to choose a preferred design for staircase improvements at Highland Gardens Park, located at 55 Hillcrest Avenue, Hamilton (Ward 1).
Improvements will include:
Cladding the existing staircase with stone or granite
Replacing the railings with a more decorative option
Installation of a sitting area at the top of the stairs
Improving the crosswalk at Hillcrest Ave and Mountain Avenue
Potential Sun shelter
Landscape improvements
Tree plantings
What are we engaging on?
Choosing a preferred concept option and provide feedback
New railing materials and design
Sitting area design and concrete type
Shade options (shade structure vs. trees)
Shade structure design style
How will public feedback be considered as part of this project? Community input during this phase of the project will help to inform specific design features of the project. Once feedback is received, the project team will review and implement into the final site designs where appropriate. A final engagement summary will be shared to outline what we heard during engagement and how it informed the final design concepts.
