Consultation has concluded
The City of Hamilton will be inviting the public to provide input on 4 short listed proposals for artwork at the corner of Locke and Jackson Streets in Ward 1.
Artists will be selected by a citizen jury through a two-stage process involving a concept and design proposal, followed by public consultation on selected Artists’ detailed proposals.
Twenty two (22) stage 1 submissions were received for the project. The 4 highest scoring Artists or Artist Led Teams were shortlisted by a citizen jury and invited to submit a stage 2 submission.
The City of Hamilton is seeking your opinion on the 4 shortlisted submissions for the Locke Street Marker Public Art Project. Your opinions will help inform the citizen jury in their final selection of the winning Art Work to be installed.

The call for artists closed on January 13, 2022. 22 total submissions were received from national and international artist and artist-led teams and 4 submissions have been selected by a citizen jury to prepare detailed proposals for public consultation.
Your comments will be provided to the jury for consideration among other criteria such as artistic excellence and technical experience in their selection of the winning proposal. The results of this public consultation are therefore not binding on the jury. A report outlining the jury’s final decision and reason for that decision will be posted when the winning artists / artist-led team is announced.
