Grow Art

I am someone who constantly has to come up against the bitterness of reality and while trying to grow the ability to dream.

It is important to foster the energy of dreaming and art can do that. It’s a very powerful force in some of the grittiest situations in all of life, whether that grit be internally, economically, politically or environmentally, within our families, within our communities, art is incredibly important, to provide a space where hope can grow.

It allows those who don’t have the means to see outside of their own world, and allows them to see color, dynamics and design, historical references, cultural references, and more. It allows them to have examples of people who are successful in their pursuits of what is in their heart that inspires themselves and their community; without art we’d have nothing, we wouldn’t be considered civilized. We would just be base desires.

Art helps define what we find culturally relevant, what messages we wanna carry to future communities, what messages we find important to ourselves to motivate us further through the sludge that reality can be.

I think it is one of the most powerful things that we can create and fuel that also creates and fuels.Hamilton is a town that is known for Super Crawl, for fostering communities of artists through things like music, theatre and art. The Fringe, the galleries and institutions like Main Stage give this town its colourful centre.

Build more artful structures and environmentally stimulating landscapes. Paint the town with more colour and invite artists to do more murals. To some Hamilton is known for gritty industry and to some its known for its inclusive arts communities.

Paint the town red, blue, pink, yellow, green, bring more plant life into the city. Grow this place into a place your children are safe and inspired to walk in. Grow it with love for ourselves and to inspire the next communities. For the love of faith grow art.
