Safari Road, between Kirkwall Road and Valens Road, is an arterial road in Rural Hamilton. Historically, this low-lying roadway has experienced flooding, which in-turn has led to multiple road closures to maintain public safety. In addition to road drainage issues, flooding has also been experienced in the abutting properties along Safari Road. The roadway is currently closed to general traffic, however its access remains open to private properties.

The Schedule ’B‘ Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) will evaluate various alternative options to determine the preferred solution to address the drainage challenges, and other concerns raised by the local community. While this MCEA will focus on the public right-of-way (ROW), the City is currently also developing a solution to the non-ROW issues as covered under the Drainage Act (1990) through a separate Municipal Drain Study.

As part of this project, the City is seeking your feedback on the preferred solution to the drainage issue within this segment of Safari Road.
