Hi, my name is Rocky Stone. I have spent most of my life giving back and helping the community. I have never lived my life for money, as I felt that giving back was more important.
The giving back and caring for the community started at a young age. I grew up in Kitchener-Waterloo area. At that time Kitchener was quite small, now I understand it's quite large. I would donate anything I had to local donation centers in Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge Guelph. Then when I moved to Toronto, the GTA all around the Toronto area and then Hamilton. It was something that I was very proud of. I was never interested in selling my items. I would just donate them. It was something that I always felt that if I didn't need anything, I felt someone else could and would, so I would donate it.
When I started my Rocky's Kids Agency, I started keeping track from 2003 to 2014. I was quite proud of all the giving back from the toy mountain to all the local charities. It was something that it was important for me to help those in need. I wasn't expecting it, but then I got recognized as one of our city's greatest givers and I was included within this small elite group of people that are giving back. It was a really great feeling. I wasn't expecting it but it it was an absolute great feeling inside.
When I worked at Settlement Assistance and Family Support Services, it was for newcomers to Canada. I tried to help as much as I could. I gave back a percentage of my pay cheques to help out those coming to Canada. It was something that they needed help and I was able to help them.
I heavily supported Mohawk College, as my CCR was 15 pages long. I was very involved in the Mohawk College community. Giving, caring, supporting, as Mohawk College was like a community all in itself.
Then that brings me up to where I am now. After a lifetime of giving and helping others, I've found myself in a position of need. It's really difficult to ask for help after helping others for such a long time. If you're able to help me I would greatly appreciate it. If you could spread my story that would be wonderful too.
Unfortunately, December of last year, 2024, my contract was not renewed at the College that I was working at due to cutbacks. I have been applying to jobs since November of last year. My Employment Insurance has ended at the end of May 2025, and I am very worried. Any help would be greatly appreciated in this time of need.
In December of last year, when I saw that I had 23 weeks of Employment Insurance Benefit, I figured that would be enough time to find a new job. I have been applying to everything and anything, and it is harder then I thought. Throughout my life, I was always able to find a job in a short time frame, as I have been working since I was 15 years old. I see many obstacles and roadblocks ahead of me, so I have to figure out how to overcome them. Time is not on my side.
I received my last Employment Insurance benefit on June 2nd, 2025. I am currently looking into all other possible options available to me. I unfortunately grew-up in a disconnected family, meaning that there was no true connection or bond, so I have no family to turn too. I have had a few good close friendships throughout my life, but just like my family, the connections grew weak over the years and we went different ways. With no family and close friends to turn too, I am reaching out to the universe to see who can help me in this time of need.
Thank you for your contribution!
