Park Winter Washroom Pilot Program

The City of Hamilton is seeking public input on the Park Winter Washroom Pilot Program.

Park washrooms are available for use annually from May and until the end of September when they are winterized and closed for the fall and winter seasons. In 2021, Council approved a two-year pilot program making select park washrooms available for use in the fall/winter season, October 1 to May 1, during daylight hours.

For fall/winter 2022/2023, the following locations, which required little or no facility alterations, were made available for use:

Ward 1 - Alexander ParkWard 6 - Mohawk Sports Park Parks storage buildingWard 8: Portable Toilet: Sam Lawrence Park
Ward 1 - Victoria Park baseball washroomsWard 6&7 - Portable Toilet: Mountain Drive ParkWard 8: William Connell Park
Ward 2 - Pier 4 Park (Gartshore Thomson building)Ward 7 - T. B. McQuesten ParkWard 13: Dundas Driving Park
Ward 3 - Woodland ParkWard 7 - Portable Toilet: Eastmount ParkWard 15: Portable Toilet: Joe Sam’s Park
Ward 3 - Gage Park Washroom (by baseball diamond)Ward 8: Bruce Park
Ward 3 - Gage Park Washroom (by splash pad)Ward 8: Buchanan Park


The following locations are receiving facility upgrades or portable toilets to make them available for use for year two of the pilot program, fall/winter 2022/2023:

Ward 1 - Churchill Park

Ward 5 - Hamilton Beach Trail (Kinsmen Park)

Ward 1 - HAAA Park

Ward 6 - Mohawk Sports Park Hornets Building

Ward 2 - Bayfront Park

Ward 6 - Mohawk Sports Park Track Building

Ward 3 - JC Beemer Park

Ward 6&7 - Mountain Drive Park (new build in 2022-2023)

Ward 5 - Confederation - Beach Park – Sports Park

Ward 12 - Ancaster Little League Park

Ward 5 - Hamilton Beach Trail (Lift Bridge)

Ward 13 - Strabane Community Park

  • Join the discussion on key issues and concerns
  • Suggest new locations for the program to expand
