Welcome to Carter Park!

Carter Park is a neighbourhood park located at 32 Stinson Street in Ward 2. It is 0.6 ha in size and is bounded by Stinson Street to the north, Claremont Access to the east, Young Street to the south and West Avenue South to the west. This park plays an important role in the community, offering a space for people of all ages to connect, play, and relax. The park contains a spray pad, playground, swings, basketball court, walkways, seating, sun shelter, decorative features, fencing, maintenance building, community gardens and community-run seasonal ice rink. There are several mature shade trees throughout the park.

Past upgrades to the park

Carter Park was updated in 2014 with new asphalt pathways, lighting, a park sign, benches, a drinking fountain, garbage cans, games tables, a basketball court, a sun shelter, stone entry columns, fencing, and new trees. Then in 2016, a mural by Bryce Huffman was added along the eastern side of the basketball court.

What's happening now?

The spray pad, playground, and swings at Carter Park are ready to be replaced. We're inviting the community to share ideas and feedback to help shape the design, layout, and features!

We'd like your input on:

  • Redesigning the spray pad
  • Redesigning the playground
  • Redesigning the swings
  • Adding walkways
  • Adding seating
  • Exploring bike parking options
  • Exploring planting options

Did you know?

There are several other parks within an 800-metre (10-minute) walk from Carter Park, shown on the Context Map linked in the ‘Documents’ section of this webpage. These nearby parks offer a variety of features like soccer fields and a dog park. While adding sports fields or a dog park is not part of this project, we are excited to hear your ideas for improving the spray pad and playground.

How can you get involved?

Take a few minutes to review the information above and share your thoughts to the survey. Your input will help shape two draft design options that we’ll share with the community at the first Public Information Centre planned for fall 2025.

What's next?

After the community meeting in fall 2025, we’ll share a second survey where you can vote on your preferred design and help choose specific play and spray features for the park. Your feedback will continue to guide the final design. There will be a second community meeting to present the final design in early 2026.
