The City of Hamilton is committed to ongoing improvements in the Chedoke Creek Watershed, building on efforts initiated in 2018 when combined sewage was found to be more regularly entering Chedoke Creek from the Main and King Combined Sewer Overflow Tank.

Launching a New Environmental Assessment

To continue this work, the City has launched a Class Environmental Assessment (EA) Master Plan. This plan focuses on improving stormwater quality in the separated storm sewer section of the watershed.

Exploring Stormwater Solutions
As part of the project, the City will identify and evaluate a variety of stormwater quality control options, including:

  • Low Impact Development (LID) techniques that help soak up water where it falls
  • Conveyance controls to manage how water moves through the system
  • End-of-pipe measures, such as stormwater pond retrofits
