Review of the Revitalizing Hamilton’s Commercial Districts CIP
The City of Hamilton's Economic Development Division is undertaking a review of the existing Revitalizing Hamilton's Commercial Districts Community Improvement Plan (CIP). This CIP provides support to the revitalization of strategic urban commercial districts by minimizing financial barriers and stimulating new private sector investment in the development of under-utilized properties and/or improving the appearance, functionality, marketability, usability and/or safety of existing buildings.
To inform our review, we want your feedback about the existing CIP programs and to hear your ideas and suggestions for how the proposed programs could be improved to further support and maintain the momentum of the investment that has taken place Downtown and along our strategic commercial districts.
- Barton/Kenilworth Planning and Building Fees Rebate
- Barton/Kenilworth Revitalization Grant
- Barton/Kenilworth Tax Increment Grant
- Commercial District Revitalization Grant
- Commercial District Housing Opportunities
- Commercial Vacancy Assistance
- Downtown and Barton/Kenilworth Housing Opportunities
- Downtown Hamilton Office Conversion Grant
- Revitalizing Hamilton Tax Increment Grant
- Start-up and Office Tenant Attraction
The goal of the review is to ensure these programs continue to:
- Provide property owners and developers with effective financial assistance that encourages more private investment in our strategic urban commercial districts and corridors;
- Meet their intended goals in terms of supporting investment and commercial assessment growth that includes the improvement of the appearance, functionality, marketability, usability and/or safety of existing buildings in these areas;
- Be financially sustainable for the City; and
- Align with community and Council priorities.
