Through collaboration with Ward 10 Councillor’s office, Municipal Parking is helping to host a open house on Monday, October 23. The purpose of the meeting is to allow residents to identify their concerns regarding on-street parking within their neighbourhood, gain insight on the scale and severity of issues experienced by area residents, and present suitable options for changing on-street parking regulations to address concerns expressed by residents.
Survey Results
Total of 52 survey responses, 20 (59%) responses from residents on Macintosh Drive.
Responses from residents on all streets within the study area
71% of responses support some type of change to the existing parking regulations within the neighbourhood
46% want parking on one side only
52% of responses support some type of permit parking (time limit or parking-by permit-only)
29% support leaving parking as is or “Do Nothing”.
Nuisance parking tends to occur most often weekdays (45%) and weekday evenings (25%)
Responses from residents on Macintosh Drive
76% support some type of change to the existing parking regulations
45% support parking on one side only
48% support some type of permit parking (time limit or parking-by-permit-only)
24% support leaving the parking as is or “Do Nothing”.
Implement a 1-hour Time Limit, Monday to Friday, 8 am to 6 pm on one side of Macintosh Drive.
Opposite side of the street would be signed as No Parking Anytime.
Parking remains unregulated weekday evenings, overnight and on weekends.
Except for Macintosh Drive, parking regulations on all remaining streets within the neighbourhood will remain unchanged at this time.
After a 12-month period (January 2025), should residents of neighbouring streets wish to change parking on their street, they will be able to obtain a petition, provided by the City, to determine if there is support from their neighbours to change parking regulations on the street. To keep parking regulations consistent within the neighbourhood, the petition will be for the same 1-hour Time Limit, Monday to Friday, 8 am to 6 pm (one side only) as installed on Macintosh Drive.
