- Reside in the local municipality or are the owner or tenant of land here, or the spouse of an owner or tenant AND
- Are a Canadian citizen AND
- Are at least 18 years old AND
- Are not prohibited from voting by law.
- Serving a sentence of imprisonment in a penal or correctional institution;
- A corporation;
- Acting as executor or trustee or in any other representative capacity, except as a voting proxy; and
- Convicted of the corrupt practice described in subsection 90 (3) of the Municipal Elections Act 1996, as amended, if voting day in the current election is less than five years after voting day in the election in respect of which he or she was convicted.

Do I have to vote in-person in the Municipal Election?
No! In 2022, eligible voters will have the option to vote by mail. Stay tuned for more information in 2022.
How will the survey responses be used?
Survey responses are intended to set a benchmark of the voter experience in past elections and assist in identifying barriers to participation. However, we know not everyone can complete a digital survey. We will further validate these results and seek other input in the coming months leading to Election Day.
How can I get involved?
City of Hamilton Elections Staff are building a robust partnership network to communicate all aspects of the Municipal Election. Interested community groups or residents can reach out to elections@hamilton.ca(External link). We will have opportunities for public engagement, community conversations, and opportunities for those who wish to work at polling locations in the coming months.
