Municipal Election 2022: Voter Experience, Enhancing Accessibility & Addressing Barriers to Voting

Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Linkedin Email this link

Under the Municipal Elections Act, the City Clerk is responsible for ensuring that elections are fair and accessible to all voters.

Leading up to the 2022 Municipal Election, the City of Hamilton wants to ensure that we do all we can to meet this obligation and provide our citizens with access to vote.

To help meet this goal, Elections staff are bringing two engagement opportunities ahead of Election Day:

  • Voter experience survey: Your feedback will help us benchmark what processes need enhanced communication and outreach. There are also opportunities for written feedback; community members are encouraged to share their experiences.
  • Suggest a voting location: We welcome your suggestions for voting locations (also known as polls).

We recognize not everyone has access to a digital survey, as such, we have made surveys available in-person at all Municipal Service Centres and branches of the Hamilton Public Library, to ensure as many prospective voters have the opportunity to complete the survey as possible

Stay tuned over the coming months as additional engagement opportunities will occur and there will be more opportunities to have your say!
