In March 2019, the City of Hamilton declared a climate emergency. As part of the response, the City of Hamilton is piloting a Sustainable Neighbourhood Action Plan (SNAP) in the North End neighbourhood. The Hamilton Sustainable Neighbourhood Action Plan (SNAP) Pilot Project is being carried out in partnership with the North End Neighbourhood Association (NENA).
SNAP aims to develop and implement projects in the North End Neighbourhood that meet neighbourhood needs for social and economic equity while also meeting carbon reduction and climate adaptation goals. In 2020, we will be providing trees for local property owners to plan (likely in the fall) and holding workshops and conducting surveys to plan other projects for 2021.
In association with the Sustainable Neighbourhood Action Program, Toronto and Region Conservation Authority.

We began in 2019 with workshops and surveys to learn more about the priorities and needs of the residents and businesses in that neighbourhood, and now in 2020 we’re coming back to learn how those priorities may have changed over the course of the pandemic, and what steps we should explore next.
All residents are welcome to respond, however entries from those who live and work in the North End will be prioritized.
