The City of Hamilton has initiated a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) study for the Twenty Road East and Upper Red Hill Valley Parkway extensions.

Twenty Road East is intended to be extended easterly from its existing terminus at Glover Road and Upper Red Hill Valley Parkway is intended to be extended southerly from its existing terminus at Rymal Road. These two road extensions will connect at a new intersection. These road extensions are necessary to meet the transportation needs in the area, and to support the ongoing and future development within the Red Hill Business Park South.

The Class EA process

The approved North Glanbrook Business Park Transportation Master Plan and Red Hill Business Park South Transportation Master Plan Addendum collectively fulfilled the requirements of Phases 1 and 2 of the Class EA process. This next phase of the study is following the Phase 3 and 4 requirements for a Schedule C project under the Municipal Class EA document (October 2000, as amended in 2007, 2011 and 2015).

We want to hear from you!

Public input is an important part of the Class EA process. There are several times throughout the Class EA process where there is opportunity for public and stakeholders to provide their input. For this study public consultation will occur:

  • Early in the process to introduce the study and to get public feedback (PIC #1).
  • Once the alternatives have been evaluated and the preliminary preferred design has been selected (PIC #2).
  • Once the study is completed the Environmental Study Report will be placed on public record for a minimum 30-day review period (Notice of Study Completion).
