Mountain Drive Park Payground & Spray Pad Replacement

Mountain Drive Park Playground and Spray Pad Survey

Mountain Drive Park provides 7.8 acres (3.2 hectares) of park space at the top of the Niagara Escarpment. Best known for its views of the lower City and Lake Ontario, the park is a popular destination for walking, cycling and play.

Although the park has served the community for decades, many of the amenities have reached the end of their lifespan, and various upgrades are required to continue to safely serve the evolving local community. Informed by public engagement, a master plan to establish direction for the revitalization of the park was prepared in 2022. The master plan report is available online.

This is a multi-year park renewal project. The new playground and spray pad are planned to be built in 2024. There is an opportunity to select play elements that create a sense of identity within the park and within the surrounding neighbourhood. The master plan suggests a nature theme for the park, making reference to the unique aspects of the Niagara Escarpment, the natural environment and the site’s historical connection to John William Kerr (who pioneered environmental protection as an ‘Inland Fisheries Overseer’ in Hamilton in the 1800’s).

The City of Hamilton wants to hear what you think – take the survey to tell us what kind of spray pad components and play equipment you like.
