I’d like to see other amenities/improved amenities in the park near my home. Will the Master Plan project address this?

As a high-level guiding document, the Parks Master Plan will direct how/where park space is provided across the entire city, but will not detail the specific amenities found within parks. However, the Recreation Master Plan(External link) (currently underway) will provide guidance on the provision, programming, and maintenance of recreation amenities within parks.

I have questions/concerns about the way the park near my home is being cared for. Will the Master Plan project address this?

The Parks Master Plan will speak to opportunities for city-wide stewardship programs and general maintenance of the entire parks system, but will not evaluate or direct the specific maintenance needs of individual parks. Please contact 905-546-2489 or info@hamilton.ca(External link) to report park maintenance requests.

I’d like to see new programs be offered in parks (seniors programs, children’s programs, etc.). Does this project include park programming?

The Parks Master Plan will guide where new parks are created to improve equitable access to park space for Hamiltonians, but will not evaluate or direct the specific programming of individual parks. Please contact 905-546-2489 or info@hamilton.ca(External link) if you have specific requests for programming in parks.

Will I have an opportunity to provide more input as this project progresses?

Following this phase of engagement, the project team will develop the strategic direction, policy recommendations, and actions for the Parks Master Plan. The next opportunity for public input will be in spring/summer 2022 to review this draft direction, to inform the final Parks Master Plan.
