User fees are the costs that the City charges the public to access a municipal service. They have a direct impact on the public's ability to afford and access critical services, and also represent a significant revenue source for the City. A consistent process to balance community needs with cost pressures for all user fees is necessary in order to continue providing high-quality municipal services to Hamiltonians.
Recreation and Transit user fees have a direct impact on our City's most vulnerable community members, generate the largest share of revenues, and are offered to the public at a partially subsidized rate. They are a primary focus of this project and a starting point for the user fee framework.
We are seeking the perspectives of Recreation and Transit users across the City. Your input is needed on community benefit, current rates, and barriers to accessing services. Your participation will influence criteria for fee application and exceptions that will guide the final user fee framework.
Your feedback will directly help the City create this new User Fee Framework.
