Community Climate Change Advisory Committee
Calling Climate Champions!
The City of Hamilton is creating a first ever Community Climate Change Advisory Committee. This Committee will be an important piece of Hamilton’s Climate Action Strategy.
While developing Hamilton’s Climate Action Strategy throughout 2021 and 2022, City Staff heard through public and stakeholder engagement the importance of establishing a transparent reporting and oversight structure that includes citizen participation that is equally represented from the diverse voices across Hamilton.
City Staff will be completing a variety of engagement activities over the next few months in order to consult and collaborate with interested stakeholders and citizens in order to develop the Terms of Reference for the Community Climate Change Advisory Committee.
Project Update - March 24, 2023
The Community Climate Change Advisory Committee’s Terms of Reference were approved by City Council in January 2023. View the Terms of Reference
City Staff want to thank the entire community for their input to help shape these Terms of Reference to ensure it achieves the objectives of Hamilton’s Climate Action Strategy and community goals, while also ensuring it is done in a fair, equitable and transparent manner.
The recruitment process is expected to be completed between April, May and June 2023. Although the exact date has not yet been established, the applications for the Community Climate Change Advisory Committee will be available in April for anyone interested.
