What is the purpose of the survey?

    The Our City Survey aligns with the City’s goal of advancing data capabilities to support decision-making, and organizational performance management and drive a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

    How often is the survey conducted?

    The Our City Survey is scheduled to be conducted approximately every three years.

    Did the questions change this year?

    Most questions are unchanged, however new questions related to COVID-19 impacts were added to this year’s survey.

    How many times can the survey be completed?

    Residents can only complete the survey once.

    When will the survey results in shared?

    The survey results are anticipated to be available in April of 2023.


    How will the survey results be shared?

    The results of the survey will be shared though these methods:

    • Engage Hamilton website
    • Infographics highlighting the survey results by City and by Ward
    • Media release
    • City of Hamilton corporate social media channels

    Why does the survey ask for personal information?

    Personal information collected in the survey (such as age, gender, education levels, household composition, household income, employment or school status) will not be used to identify individuals and will only be reported in aggregate form. The data provides a basic demographic profile of the survey sample population and helps to ensure the sample is representative of the City of Hamilton population.
