Eastmount Park is located at 115 East 26th Street in Hamilton within Ward 7. The park is approximately 3.5 hectares in size and fronts on to East 26th Street, with residential properties to the north, east and south. Existing features include the Eastmount Community Centre, a spray pad, playground, four softball diamonds and paved pathways. There are three parking lots that serve the park; two lots are located on Queensdale Avenue East, and the other parking lot is on East 26th Street adjacent to the Community Centre.

The existing spray pad and playground in the park are nearing the end of their life cycles and are now in need of replacement. Additionally, a multi-use court is proposed to be installed at the park. As part of the planning process, the City will engage with local residents to shape the vision of this space. The project scope will include:

  • Spray pad

  • Playground equipment

  • Multi-use court

  • 3m wide asphalt walkways

  • Drinking fountain

  • Benches

  • Tree plantings

A leash free area is important, either temporary or permanent. Most people understand the need and value of having a four legged companion. It is crucial for dogs to exercise and socialize.

There’s enough room in the park to accommodate a leash free area even if at designated times. Also, when the ball park season ends no one else uses it other than dog walkers
I would like to see some consideration given to this issue given the increased number of dogs and the immense benefits they bring

Eastmount Park is a family friendly park

Eastmount softball is a staple in the neighbourhood and provides low cost structured activity for kids. It is a wonderful use of the park.

I've raised my kids in the neighbourhood and at this park. Many summer days spent at the splash pad, playing on the park equipment, playing softball, using the green space for kicking a ball or playing frisbee. We've met new families by spending time at Eastmount Park.
